Monte Carlo Fire It is not everyday your friend calls you and tells you to look behind the plant you were working at to see a hotel fire. The Monte Carlo caught fire around 10:30am on 1/25/2008. There hasn't been a hotel fire since the MGM Grand Fire in 1980.
An
ambulance spokeswoman 17 people were taken
to area hospitals with minor injuries,
mostly from inhaling smoke or from fleeing
the building. None of the 120 firefighters
who fought the blaze was hurt.
They estimated the hotel, with 3,002 guest rooms and 211 suites, was almost full and about 900 workers were on duty when the fire began.
